Life is hectic. Temper tantrums, overdue reports, and rush hour traffic … oh, rush hour traffic, how we loathe you. Okay, so the whole “life is hectic” line is a bit of an understatement – life is mind-boggling mad. That is why you have to take some time out at the end of the day to unwind and relax, to spend some time with “ME.” The Upper Canada Soap staff is composed of amazing multi-tasking women who have crazy schedules, but they all have hobbies or tasks that they do to relax. Therefore, we wanted to show you how the Marketing Ladies at Upper Canada Soap unwind and ultimately, stay sane. 1. Exercise Have you seen What Women Want? You know the line where Helen Hunt describes running as just you and the pavement? Well, it’s true. Running is something that our Marketing Director, Chantelle, uses to clear her mind. She also uses it to prepare for the day, because she does it in the morning. Editor’s Note: How she wakes up at 5:45AM everyday and straps on the runners is beyond us. Exercise is essential to a healthy life style and is a great de-stresor. 2. TV and Movies Our Brand Manager, Adriana, loves to unwind in front of the TV. She makes her husband watch General Hospital with her every night and he hates it – but we think it’s adorable! Our Graphic Designer, Jenny, is more of a movie gal and spends her time watching rom-coms .

It’s time to shed the parkas, boots and toques, Canada! Spring is coming (or so we hope) and it has hit the runway with a bang! If you’re anything like me, you and live for fashion, but not everything you see on the runway will compliment your taste, look or budget. Luckily, this Spring, the runway was good to the average, fabulous girl by giving us some trends that we can love and embrace. 1. Fabulous Florals Nothing says Spring like florals! Peter Som exploded onto the runway with this blue floral chiffon. It was a welcome update to evening wear. 2. Sporty Chic Who says that fashion isn’t comfortable? For those on a tight budget, this ensemble is from Marc Jacob’s more affordable ready-to-wear collection. Don’t forget to polish off this outfit with some cool color-blocked kicks. 3. Tangerine Tango Pantone guessed it right! Tangerine Tango is the “it” colour this Spring. Tangerine or any orange citrus colour brightened up the runway in New York, and you will definitely see it on the streets once the snow melts. Here, Charlotte Ronson showed a flowing, pretty piece in the sunny shade. 4. Neons Similar to our amazing KITCHEN by Upper Canada Soap collection, the Spring fashion trends are embracing NEON! What could be a happier shade to kick off a wonderful season? Nanette Lepore’s collection does this family of colours justice this Spring. 5. Polka Dots Everyone is gaga over polka dots this season! This is Tory Burch’s three-dimensional take

Before the Goji Berry explosion, there was the Acai Berry. Pronounced “A-Sa’i”, this super berry can be found on the Acai palm tree, which is often located in the beautiful rain forests of the Amazon in Brazil and South America. This fruit has gained a lot of recognition for its distinctive beneficial properties over the other berries of its class – and has been sold all around the world in various products like energy drinks, juices and sodas. It is argued that the Acai Berry is one of the most nutritious food that you can add into your diet. It benefits you in many ways; it is good for cleansing the body against harmful toxins that are present in the system. The daily intake of Acai Berry can flush away the excess fats and cholesterol so that you can easily maintain or lose weight. Acai Berries contain excellent antioxidants, which are little powerful molecules containing tons of health benefits. It is one of the largest carriers of antioxidants, which is why our Fruit Frappe Watermelon with Acai line is jam-packed with Acai Extract – along with nine other antioxidant Superfruits (a fruit which combines exceptional nutrient richness and antioxidant quality with appealing taste). Fun Fact: One Acai Berry contains up to 30 times more antioxidants than other well known Superfruits, such as blueberries and grapes. Fruit Frappe Watermelon with Acai Foaming Shower Gel ($12)

The berries grow between ten thousand and twelve thousand feet, and can survive extreme temperatures. The Goji Berry is widely known for its anti-aging properties, therefore, using it daily will help you get one step closer to younger, healthier skin. Along with improving your skin, it’s a great source of polysaccharides that are necessary for boosting your immune function and defense system. Other health benefits include helping eyesight, protecting the liver, strengthening the legs, improving blood circulation and promoting longevity. In regards to cuisine, the Goji Berry has a slight sweet and sour taste and has a similar chewy texture and shape as raisins.
